To make these plans a reality, Rhode Island Zoological Society, the nonprofit organization that manages and supports Roger Williams Park Zoo, embarked on a $35 million capital campaign in 2006. The goal is to raise $20 million in private donations and $15 million from the public sector in the form of general obligation bonds.

Now, a year later, we couldn’t be happier with all the progress we’ve made.  Thanks to the generous support of community partners, charitable foundations, individual donors and Rhode Island voters who said "Yes on 6" (the Zoo bond) last fall, we’re off to a wonderful start. The Society has raised over $23 million to date - that's over 64% of our total fundraising goal.
